റോസാപ്പൂക്കളും കളിമണ്ണും — The Roses and the Clay

പണ്ട് പണ്ട് ഒരു മനോഹരമായ ഗ്രാമം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അവിടെ ഒരു കർഷകൻ താമസിച്ചിരുന്നു. ഒരു ദിവസം ജോലി കഴിഞ്ഞ് അയാൾ പാടവരമ്പിലൂടെ വീട്ടിലേക്ക് മടങ്ങുകയായിരുന്നു. സൂര്യൻ അസ്തമിക്കുന്ന ആ സന്ധ്യാനേരത്ത്, ചുവന്ന ആകാശം നോക്കി അയാൾ സാവധാനം മുന്നോട്ട് നീങ്ങി.

അപ്പോഴാണ് മനോഹരമായ റോസാപ്പൂക്കളുടെ സുഗന്ധം അവിടമാകെ പരന്നത്. അയാൾ നടത്തം നിർത്തി, ആ സുഗന്ധം ആസ്വദിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് ആഴത്തിൽ ഒന്ന് ശ്വസിച്ച ശേഷം അത്ഭുതത്തോടെ ചുറ്റും നോക്കി. പക്ഷേ, അവിടെയെങ്ങും ഒരു റോസാച്ചെടി പോലും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നില്ല.

"എവിടെ നിന്നാണ് ഈ സുഗന്ധം വരുന്നത്?" അയാൾ സ്വയം ചോദിച്ചു.

അല്പം കൂടി മുന്നോട്ട് നടന്നപ്പോൾ വഴിയരികിൽ ഒരു ചെറിയ കളിമൺ കൂന അയാൾ കണ്ടു. അതിനടുത്തേക്ക് ചെന്നപ്പോൾ സുഗന്ധം കൂടി കൂടി വന്നു. അയാൾ കുനിഞ്ഞ് അതിൽ നിന്നും ഒരു പിടി മണ്ണെടുത്ത് മണത്തു നോക്കി. അതേ! ആ റോസാപ്പൂക്കളുടെ സുഗന്ധം വരുന്നത് ഈ കളിമണ്ണിൽ നിന്നു തന്നെയാണ്.

കർഷകൻ അത്ഭുതത്തോടെ കളിമണ്ണിനോട് ചോദിച്ചു: "നീ വെറുമൊരു കളിമണ്ണല്ലേ? സാധാരണ മണ്ണിന് ഇത്രയും നല്ല മണം ഉണ്ടാവാറില്ലല്ലോ. നിനക്ക് എങ്ങനെയാണ് ഈ റോസാപ്പൂവിന്റെ സുഗന്ധം കിട്ടിയത്?"

അപ്പോൾ ആ കളിമണ്ണ് ചിരിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു: "അതെ ഞാൻ വെറുമൊരു കളിമണ്ണാണ്. പക്ഷേ, ഞാൻ കുറേക്കാലം മനോഹരമായ റോസാപ്പൂക്കൾ വിരിഞ്ഞു നിന്ന ഒരു പൂന്തോട്ടത്തിലാണ് കഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്നത്. അവിടത്തെ പൂക്കൾ എന്റെ നല്ല കൂട്ടുകാരായിരുന്നു. എപ്പോഴും അവരോടൊപ്പം കഴിഞ്ഞതു കൊണ്ട് ആ പൂക്കളുടെ സുഗന്ധം പതുക്കെ എനിക്കും ലഭിച്ചു."

കളിമണ്ണിന്റെ ആ മറുപടി കേട്ടപ്പോൾ കർഷകന്റെ മുഖത്ത് ഒരു വലിയ ചിരി വിരിഞ്ഞു. തന്റെ സംശയത്തിന് എത്ര ലളിതമായ മറുപടിയാണ് ആ കളിമണ്ണ് നൽകിയത്!

അയാൾ ആ മണ്ണിലേക്ക് നോക്കി മനസ്സിൽ പറഞ്ഞു: "എത്ര വലിയ കാര്യമാണ് ഈ കുഞ്ഞു കളിമണ്ണ് എന്നെ പഠിപ്പിച്ചത്! നമ്മൾ ആരുടെ കൂടെയാണോ കൂടുതൽ സമയം ചെലവഴിക്കുന്നത്, അവരുടെ സ്വഭാവം പതുക്കെ നമ്മളിലേക്കും എത്തും. റോസാപ്പൂക്കൾക്കൊപ്പം ഇരുന്നതുകൊണ്ട് കളിമണ്ണിന് സുഗന്ധം കിട്ടിയതുപോലെ, നല്ലവരായ കൂട്ടുകാർക്കൊപ്പം ചേർന്നാൽ നമുക്കും നല്ല ഗുണങ്ങൾ ലഭിക്കും."

കളിമണ്ണിൽ നിന്നും കിട്ടിയ ആ വലിയ പാഠം ഓർത്തുകൊണ്ട്, മനസ്സുനിറയെ സന്തോഷത്തോടെ ആ കർഷകൻ തന്റെ വീട്ടിലേക്ക് നടന്നു. അപ്പോഴും ആ വഴിയാകെ റോസാപ്പൂക്കളുടെ സുഗന്ധം തങ്ങി നിൽക്കുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

9	അല്പം കൂടി മുന്നോട്ട് നടന്നപ്പോൾ വഴിയരികിൽ ഒരു ചെറിയ കളിമൺ കൂന അയാൾ കണ്ടു.	When he walked a little further, he saw a small heap of clay by the roadside.
10	അതിനടുത്തേക്ക് ചെന്നപ്പോൾ സുഗന്ധം കൂടി കൂടി വന്നു.	As he went closer to it, the fragrance grew stronger and stronger.
