चार मूर्ख — The Four Fools

एक जंगल मे एक ऊँचे पेड़ पर एक काली चिडि़या रहती थी। जब वह गाती तो उसकी चोंच से सोने के दाने झड़ते थे। संयोग से एक दिन एक बहेलिए की नजर उस पर पड़ गयी। चिडि़या के मुँह से सोने के दाने झरते देख वह फूला नही समाया। उसने मन ही मन कहा, "वाह! कितनी अच्छी तकदीर है मेरी! मैं इस चिडि़या को पकड़ कर अपने घर ले जाऊँगा। यह मुझे रोज सोने के दाने देगी। मैं धनवान हो जाऊँगा।"

फिर बहेलिए ने चिडि़या को पकड़ने के लिए जमीन पर अपना जाल फैलाकर उस पर चावल के कुछ दाने बिखेर दिए। काली चिडि़या दाने चुगने नीचे उतरी और जाल मे फँस गई। बहेलिए ने चिडि़या को पकड़ लिया और उसे अपने घर ले गया। उस दिन से बहेलिए को रोज सोने के दाने मिलने लगे। देखते देखते वह अमीर आदमी बन गया। उसने सोचा कि उसे कुछ प्रसिद्धि और सम्मान मिलना चाहिए। इसलिए उसने चिडि़या के लिए सोने का पिंजड़ा बनवाया।

फिर उसने वह चिडि़या राजा को भेंट कर दी। उपहार देते हुए राजा से कहा, "महाराज! यह चिडि़या आपके महल मे मधुर गीत गाएगी। आपको सोने के कुछ दाने भी देगी।" यह उपहार पाकर राजा बहुत प्रसन्न हुआ। उसने बहेलिए को अपने दरबार मे ऊँचा ओहदा दिया। जल्द ही राजा के पास ढेर सारे सोने के दाने जमा हो गए। राजा ने वह सोने की चिडि़या रानी को भेंट कर दी।

रानी ने पिंजड़े का दरवाजा खोलकर चिडि़या को आजाद कर दिया और सोने का पिंजड़ा शाही सुनार को देकर कहा, "इस सोने के पिंजड़े से मेरे लिए सुंदर सुंदर गहने गढ़ दो।"

चिडि़या उड़ती हुई वापस जंगल मे चली गई। अब रोज सबेरे वह चार मूर्खों का गाना गाने लगी:

पहली मूर्ख मैं थी, जो बहेलिए के जाल में फंसी।
दूसरा मूर्ख बहेलिया था, जिसने मुझे राजा को भेंट कर दिया।
तीसरा मूर्ख राजा था, जिसने मुझे रानी को दे दिया।
चौथी मूर्ख रानी थी, जिसने मुझे आजाद कर दिया।

शिक्षा — A truly valuable thing should not be given away thoughtlessly. Wisdom means knowing the true worth of what you possess.

Section 2: Sentence-by-Sentence Translation

1	एक जंगल मे एक ऊँचे पेड़ पर एक काली चिडि़या रहती थी।	In a forest, a black bird lived on a tall tree.
2	जब वह गाती तो उसकी चोंच से सोने के दाने झड़ते थे।	When she sang, golden seeds would fall from her beak.
3	संयोग से एक दिन एक बहेलिए की नजर उस पर पड़ गयी।	By chance, one day a bird catcher's eye fell upon her.
4	चिडि़या के मुँह से सोने के दाने झरते देख वह फूला नही समाया।	Seeing golden seeds dropping from the bird's beak, he could not contain his excitement.
5	उसने मन ही मन कहा, "वाह! कितनी अच्छी तकदीर है मेरी!"	He said to himself, "Wow! How lucky I am!"
6	मैं इस चिडि़या को पकड़ कर अपने घर ले जाऊँगा।	I will catch this bird and take it home.
7	यह मुझे रोज सोने के दाने देगी।	It will give me golden seeds every day.
8	मैं धनवान हो जाऊँगा।	I will become wealthy.
9	बहेलिए ने जमीन पर अपना जाल फैलाकर उस पर चावल के कुछ दाने बिखेर दिए।	The bird catcher spread his net on the ground and scattered some rice grains on it.
10	काली चिडि़या दाने चुगने नीचे उतरी और जाल मे फँस गई।	The black bird came down to peck the grains and got trapped in the net.
11	बहेलिए ने चिडि़या को पकड़ लिया और उसे अपने घर ले गया।	The bird catcher caught the bird and took it home.
12	उस दिन से बहेलिए को रोज सोने के दाने मिलने लगे।	From that day, the bird catcher began receiving golden seeds every day.
13	देखते देखते वह अमीर आदमी बन गया।	In no time at all, he became a wealthy man.
14	उसने सोचा कि उसे कुछ प्रसिद्धि और सम्मान मिलना चाहिए।	He thought that he should receive some fame and respect.
15	इसलिए उसने चिडि़या के लिए सोने का पिंजड़ा बनवाया।	So he had a golden cage made for the bird.
16	फिर उसने वह चिडि़या राजा को भेंट कर दी।	Then he presented the bird as a gift to the king.
17	यह चिडि़या आपके महल मे मधुर गीत गाएगी।	This bird will sing sweet songs in your palace.
18	आपको सोने के कुछ दाने भी देगी।	It will also give you some golden seeds.
19	यह उपहार पाकर राजा बहुत प्रसन्न हुआ।	Receiving this gift, the king was very pleased.
20	उसने बहेलिए को अपने दरबार मे ऊँचा ओहदा दिया।	He gave the bird catcher a high position in his royal court.
21	जल्द ही राजा के पास ढेर सारे सोने के दाने जमा हो गए।	Soon, a large number of golden seeds accumulated with the king.
22	राजा ने वह सोने की चिडि़या रानी को भेंट कर दी।	The king presented the golden bird as a gift to the queen.
23	रानी ने पिंजड़े का दरवाजा खोलकर चिडि़या को आजाद कर दिया।	The queen opened the cage door and freed the bird.
24	इस सोने के पिंजड़े से मेरे लिए सुंदर सुंदर गहने गढ़ दो।	Make beautiful jewellery for me from this golden cage.
25	चिडि़या उड़ती हुई वापस जंगल मे चली गई।	The bird flew back to the forest.
26	अब रोज सबेरे वह चार मूर्खों का गाना गाने लगी।	Now every morning she began singing a song about the four fools.
27	पहली मूर्ख मैं थी, जो बहेलिए के जाल में फंसी।	The first fool was I, who got trapped in the bird catcher's net.
28	दूसरा मूर्ख बहेलिया था, जिसने मुझे राजा को भेंट कर दिया।	The second fool was the bird catcher, who presented me to the king.
