प्यासा कौआ — The Thirsty Crow

Thirsty Crow

गर्मियो के दिन थे। एक कौआ बहुत प्यासा था। उसका गला सूख रहा था।

वह इधर-उधर उड़ता हुआ पानी की तलाश कर रहा था। पर उसे कहीं भी पानी नहीं दिखाई दिया। सभी जलाशय सूख गये थे।

अंत में कौए को एक मकान के पास एक घड़ा दिखाई दिया। वह घड़े के पास गया। उसने उसमें झाँककर देखा। घड़े में थोड़ा-सा पानी था। पर उसकी चोंच पानी तक नहीं पहुँच सकती थी।

आचानक उसे एक उपाय सूझा। वह जमीन से एक-एक कंकड़ उठाकर घड़े में डालने लगा। धीरे-धीरे घड़े का पानी ऊपर आने लगा। अब कौए की चोंच पानी तक पहुँच सकती थी।

कौए ने जी-भर कर पानी पिया और खुशी से काँव-काँव करता उड़ गया।

शिक्षा — जहाँ चाह, वहाँ राह!

9	उसने उसमें झाँककर देखा।	He peeked inside it.
10	घड़े में थोड़ा-सा पानी था।	There was a little bit of water in the pot.
11	पर उसकी चोंच पानी तक नहीं पहुँच सकती थी।	But his beak could not reach the water.
12	आचानक उसे एक उपाय सूझा।	Suddenly, he thought of a solution.
13	वह जमीन से एक-एक कंकड़ उठाकर घड़े में डालने लगा।	He began picking up pebbles one by one from the ground and dropping them into the pot.
14	धीरे-धीरे घड़े का पानी ऊपर आने लगा।	Slowly, the water in the pot began to rise.
15	अब कौए की चोंच पानी तक पहुँच सकती थी।	Now the crow's beak could reach the water.
16	कौए ने जी-भर कर पानी पिया और खुशी से काँव-काँव करता उड़ गया।	The crow drank water to his heart's content and flew away cawing happily.
17	शिक्षा — जहाँ चाह, वहाँ राह!	Moral — Where there is a will, there is a way!
